Bad weather: two scout groups recovered in the Venetian Dolomites

(ANSA) – VENICE, 06 AUGUST – Two groups of scouts were rescued last night by the Alpine Rescue, after they found themselves in difficulty in Santo Stefano di Cadore and Cortina due to the abundant and concentrated rainfall.

The alarm went off shortly before 20.00. In the locality of Val Comelico, ten scouts from Vittorio Veneto (Treviso) had pitched their tents in Val Frison, which from Campolongo climbs to Forcella Lavardet, near a tributary of the stream, which had swollen and started to unload material.

A team from the Alpine Rescue of Val Comelico and the Fire Brigade, together with the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza of Auronzo – arrived on site, initially unable to cross due to the flood of the river. Two rescuers then walked back up until the level dropped and they found a place to wade. They then joined the group of people aged 24 to 38, who had prepared themselves, and accompanied them for 300 meters to the vehicles and from there to the sports hall.

At the same time, the Cortina Alpine Rescue was activated for another group of 11 scouts from Siena, aged 18 to 32, who intended to set up tents in the Malga Fanes Grande area, but advised against by the manager due to bad weather. arrival were returning to the valley. At the height of the Felizon Bridge in Fiames, however, they were blocked by a landslide. A team, together with the Sagf of Cortina, managed to reach them from a secondary road.
