(ANSA) – CAMPOBASSO, 08 AUG – Next 31 October it will be 20 years since the earthquake in Molise, in one of the villages of the crater, Colletorto (Campobasso), all this time the children have attended lessons in a prefabricated building. Only yesterday, in fact, after a series of postponements and delays, the new school in the town was inaugurated. It is a building built with seismic isolators, therefore able to withstand even strong earthquakes.
The new three-storey building was rebuilt on the area that housed the old school damaged by the earthquake. It will host children and young people of elementary and middle school. At the cutting of the ribbon, the mayor of the town Damiano Mele apologized to the community for the accumulated delays. In front of the entrance to the new building, a statue was made that commemorates the 27 children and their teacher, Carmela Ciniglio, who was from Colletorto, who died in the collapse of the Jovine school in the nearby town of San Giuliano di Puglia on 31 October 2002 .
