Plundered Sardinian beaches: 22 kg sand and pebbles in the luggage

(ANSA) – ALGHERO, 08 AUG – The thefts of sand, shells and pebbles continue on the beaches of Sardinia: during the checks at Alghero airport, the officials of the Customs and Monopoly agency, in collaboration with the staff of Sogeaal Security, they recovered 10 kg of sand, 7 kg of pebbles and 5 kg of shells, taken from the beaches of the north of the island.

The findings, which took place between 15 and 30 July, were recovered in the luggage of tourists of various nationalities – including Romanian, Polish, Swedish, Spanish, Serbian and Italian – departing from the Riviera del Corallo port. Administrative sanctions were thus triggered ranging from a minimum of 500 euros to a maximum of 3,000 euros, in addition to the seizure of marine finds illegally taken. (HANDLE).
