Plundered Sardinian beaches: Pinna Nobilis in the car trunk

Lavrov warns:

(ANSA) – OLBIA, AUGUST 24 – The robberies on the coasts of Sardinia do not stop even in these last remnants of August. A one meter long example of pinna nobilis (sea castanet), with the mollusk still inside, taken from the waters of Porto Ferro was discovered in the trunk of a car leaving the port of Olbia. Two Italian tourists of about 50 years, heedless of the prohibitions of taking from the beaches and the protection rules of these marine specimens, had hidden the sea castanet in the vehicle but were discovered on boarding for Livorno by the Security agents of the Authority of Port System of the Sardinian Sea. The two were reported to the Port Authority for the related sanctions.

“It is yet another case of theft of protected species recorded in Sardinian ports – confirms the AdSP – the Authority is at the forefront to stem the unpleasant phenomenon against Sardinia and its beauties”. (HANDLE).
