(ANSA) – CATANZARO, AUG 26 – Three citizens of Turkish nationality were detained by the Crotone Mobile Squad in relation to the landing of migrants in the Calabrian port on 21 August with the arrival of 69 migrants of Afghan and Syrian nationality and Egyptian, arrived aboard a sailboat.

The attention of the investigators immediately focused on the only 3 Turks on board, of the same nationality as the subjects who, as happened in previous landings, are increasingly recognized as conductors of the boats that leave for the Italian coasts, coming from the eastern route.

The testimonies collected by other foreigners were decisive, who reconstructed all the phases of the journey, from their departure from a town on the Turkish coast, until their arrival on the Crotone coast, which took place in the early hours of 21 August.

At the end of the investigative activity, the three were placed in police custody for the crime of aiding illegal immigration and taken to the Crotone prison at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. (HANDLE).
