Flood in the Marche, Mattia’s father: “I want to believe he’s alive”

“I want to believe that Mattia is alive, maybe he is clinging to a plant”: Tiziano Luconi, the father of the 8-year-old boy, who is still missing from the flood that hit the Marche, tells ANSA. “In three days I slept for three hours, I am destroyed, but I have to find Mattia”, says on the phone the father who in the meantime is participating in the research. “Mattia is my special gnome, we are always together”, says Tiziano who sends a “special thanks to firefighters, police forces and volunteers”. “The strength to go – he concludes – only gives me the hope and the desire to believe with all my heart that Mattia is alive”.

The Pope addressed the Angelus a thought to the Marche affected by the flood. “I pray for the deceased and their families, for the wounded and for those who have suffered serious damage. May the Lord give strength to that community”, the Pope said.
