The backpack, which was recognized by family members, was found yesterday, according to what has been learned, about 8 km away from the point where the child was overwhelmed by the water, who had snatched it from his mother’s arms, along the road between Ripalta di Arcevia and Castelleone di Suasa. However, the position may not be indicative of where Mattia might be.
There are 11 victims ascertained so far, including Pianello di Ostra, Senigallia, Barbara, Trecastelli, Serra de ‘Conti, Rosora. Today the head of civil protection Fabrizio Curcio will carry out inspections in the affected areas, starting from the province of Pesaro (Cantiano, Serra Sant’Abbondio, Frontone, Pergola), and then move on to that of Ancona. In the afternoon Curcio should attend a meeting at the Rescue Coordination Center (CCS) at the Marche Regional Civil Protection.

To reduce “as much as possible the peak flow that crosses the center of Senigallia”, he added, it was necessary to intervene by “rolling and increasing the flow capacity” in the city as much as possible.
The necessary works, the document continued, “consist in the first instance in the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the riverbed and in the dredging of the terminal part”, but there is “the need to be able to laminate, along the entire basin with appropriate manned management, about 7.31 million cubic meters to reach a flow rate passing through the center of Senigallia of 240 m3 / sec “.
