(ANSA) – MILAN, NOVEMBER 03 – Hygiene education contributes to curbing the spread of Covid-19. Certain behaviors, such as repeatedly washing hands, have now entered our daily life, but what was previously considered only a virtuous behavior, is now also supported by a research carried out by the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan.

The study, which saw the involvement of Napisan, was carried out during the second epidemic wave (autumn 2020) on a sample of 140 primary schools in Lombardy and demonstrates how the incidence of Covid infections in the classes involved in an educational path hygiene was 14% lower than the regional average for children of the same age.

“This research has brought results that are preliminary, but significant with respect to the opportunity to do health education and hygiene in school contexts, starting with children who are the most sensitive to educational messages” comments Professor Anna Odone, full professor of Hygiene at the University of Pavia. While for Professor Carlo Signorelli, full professor of Hygiene and director of the School of Specialization in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine at San Raffaele, who coordinated the work, “the school can still be an outbreak of the virus because contacts are closer and opportunities of infection are greater. Above all, as regards the nursery and primary school, we are dealing with an unvaccinated population, in which we have seen that the virus continues to circulate “.

At the basis of the research, the ‘Hygiene Together’ project, through which Napisan provided the schools involved with a series of teaching materials, training courses for teachers and, above all, kits of health products useful for hand hygiene and surfaces. “With this project, Napisan is a spokesman for the fact that hygiene is no longer a private matter, but a social responsibility” added Ludovica Codecasa, head of purpose Council & External Affairs of Reckitt, the multinational company that owns the Napisan brand.
