(ANSA) – ATESSA, 04 NOV – Two precautionary custody orders were issued by the Gip of the Court of Lanciano (Chieti) and carried out by the Carabinieri Company of Atessa (Chieti) at the end of an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Lanciano against the ” corporal “. The operation involved a large cultivated area in the municipalities of Fossacesia and Mozzagrogna (Chieti) in the early hours of Friday 30 October and saw the use of over 20 carabinieri, with staff from the Cc Labor Inspectorate of Chieti, of the 5th Carabinieri helicopter unit of Pescara and the assistance of the Labor Inspectorate of Chieti. The two restrictive measures were carried out against a 39-year-old Bulgarian, currently detained in the prison of Vasto (Chieti), and a 61-year-old farmer from Mozzagrogna, under house arrest. Both are held responsible, in concurrence in various capacities for the crime provided for by art. 603 bis of the Criminal Code
or illicit intermediation and exploitation of work, as well as crimes relating to safety in the workplace.
The investigations, conducted by the Nucleo Operativo and Radiomobile of Atessa since last September, brought to light a situation of labor exploitation against at least eleven Bulgarian citizens: the two arrested recruited and employed foreign workers without a regular employment contract, with a remuneration clearly different from regional and national collective agreements.
The 39-year-old recruited his compatriots, mostly from a small town in northern Bulgaria on the border with Romania; people who arrived by sea from Greece to the maritime borders of Brindisi or Bari and then continued by bus to San Severo (Foggia) where they were picked up and transported to Fossacesia; here they were staying in a room owned by the agricultural entrepreneur, dilapidated and with serious sanitation deficiencies. The 39-year-old Bulgarian was stopped and arrested near San Severo: he was in possession of a ticket to Greece and was about to embark from the port of Brindisi. (HANDLE).
