(ANSA) – BELLUNO, 05 NOV – The public prosecutor’s internet network does not give access to social networks, and so investigations cannot be carried out for complaints of insults and hate posts on Facebook. This is the reason that led the judicial offices of Belluno to file the complaint of an Italian-Algerian candidate for the last Regionals in Veneto, Assia Belhadj, who after posting her photo with the veil on Facebook was submerged by offensive insults and violent haters. The woman was a candidate with Arturo Lorenzoni’s list.
His request for justice was frustrated by the decision of the Prosecutor, who with the prosecutor Katjiuscia D’Orlando asked for the filing, then confirmed by the investigating judge Enrica Marson.
In the provision, the magistrates explained first of all that it was not possible to identify the authors of the posts clearly, and also that “the network used by the office does not allow access to Facebook”. In the past, the prosecutor continues, these investigations “were carried out by personnel – who are no longer there – who used their private computer and their Facebook profile”. (HANDLE).
