(ANSA) – NAPLES, NOV 15 – The Naples Review Court, based on the appeal filed by the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor’s Office against the decisions adopted by the investigating magistrate Sergio Enea in the context of the judicial proceedings on violence committed by agents of the Penitentiary against inmates in the San Marino prison, on 6 April 2020, the suspects still under house arrest risk prison, in relation to the death of an Algerian prisoner: Pasquale Colucci, commander of the ‘Support to interventions’ group, Anna Rita Costanzo, chief commissioner in charge of the Nile department, the former commander of the Penitentiary Police of the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere Gaetano Manganelli, the superintendent Salvatore Mezzarano, recently placed under house arrest after a few months in prison.

Among the 30 suspects for which the Public Prosecutor has instead asked for house arrest is that of the former regional administrator for prisons Antonio Fullone, who in June was struck by the interdicting measure of suspension from work for six months for the crime of misdirection; the Prosecutor appealed, believing that Fullone, contrary to the provisions of the investigating judge, was also guilty of the crime of ill-treatment by omission, or for having done nothing to prevent the violence.
