A number of media outlets reported that the head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPFU) Dmitry Sennichenko submitted his resignation. The journalists were informed about the dismissal by sources close to the State Property Fund.

This, in particular, is reported by “Interfax-Ukraine” with reference to its source.

Causes

There are two reasons that could lead to such a decision.

The publication “LB.ua”, citing sources, writes that one of the main reasons for Sennichenko’s dismissal is “the dissatisfaction of certain representatives of the politician with the privatization, which has successfully started, but may in its own way affect the ratings of the authorities.”

Others point to the recent scandal surrounding the privatization of the Bolshevik plant in Kiev. Investment banker Serhiy Fursa said on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel that at the time of the privatization of the plant everything was done to [/embed]scare away other bidders.

Career

  • When Sennichenko was appointed head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine in 2019, then Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk set him the task of clearing the Fund of influence groups as soon as possible.“We are well informed about the essence of the processes that worked here. It is necessary to cleanse all comrades who represent various groups of influence,” – Goncharuk said then.
  • In 2020 The State Property Fund of Ukraine planned the privatization of more than a thousand state-owned enterprises. However, according to the SPFU report for 2020, this did not work out.
  • At the same time, the privatization of the Dnipro Hotel on Khreshchatyk exceeded all expectations – it was sold at an auction for 1 billion 111 million hryvnia, which is almost 14 times more than the starting price. True, it all ended in courts.
