Migrant killed: originally a dispute over a mobile phone

Budget Law, Bar:

(ANSA) – VENTIMIGLIA, 27 NOV – There is the alleged theft of a mobile phone at the origin of the quarrel between two Sudanese compatriots which last night ended in blood with a 35-year-old migrant who stabbed and killed a young man under the overpass of Roverino, in Ventimiglia (Imperia). The murderer was detained by the judicial police and will be subjected to validation interrogation on Monday. Apparently, he allegedly accused the victim of having stolen his mobile phone, a quarrel broke out between the two and the Sudanese pulled out a small knife attacking his rival.

“From the first interrogation – affirms the defense lawyer, Stefania Abbagnano – a picture of serious unease among these compatriots emerged, but the actual desire to kill the boy by my client did not emerge, who in fact did not think he had committed such a serious act “.

At first it was thought that the quarrel between the two compatriots had begun in the center of Ventimiglia, since the cameras showed that the alleged killer had quarreled with other compatriots. Instead that argument ended without consequences, while the murder took place under the overpass, on the bank of the Roya River, where migrants have been living in a tent city for years waiting to find the right moment to emigrate illegally to France.

It seems that the attacker had lived for a long time in Italy and after a first attempt to obtain a residence permit he would have gradually become “irregular”. The victim would have been killed with at least five stab wounds. The investigations are conducted by the carabinieri of Ventimiglia, coordinated by the prosecutor Luca Scorza Azzarà of the prosecutor of Imperia. (HANDLE).
