President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed a new head of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine. According to the decree No. 606/2021 of November 30, this post will be occupied by Alexander Poklad.

“To appoint Poklad Oleksandr Valentinovich as the head of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine,” the document says.

By another decree, the president appointed Ilya Vityuk as the head of the Department of counterintelligence protection of state interests in the field of information security of the SBU.

On November 29, Zelensky fired the head of the SBU Counterintelligence Department, Major General Alexander Rusnak. The reasons for his dismissal are not known, however, the dismissal of the head of the counterintelligence service of the Ukrainian special service coincided with the opening of production by the SBU in connection with the preparation of a coup d’état.

Who is Poklad

Prior to this appointment, Alexander Poklad was the head of the 5th Directorate of the Counterintelligence Department of the SBU.

According to Zaxid.net, Poklad led a special operation to arrest Major General of the SBU Valery Shaitanov, who is suspected of working for Russia.
