Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba rejected President Vladimir Putin’s condition that Ukraine or the West must guarantee Moscow that NATO will not expand eastward. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Twitter.
He was outraged by statements from the Kremlin.
“It is Russia that is expanding its borders, and Russia has violated international law. I reject the idea that we should guarantee Russia something. Russia should guarantee that it will not continue its aggression against any country.”, – said Kuleba.
The minister stressed that Russia has no right to influence the decisions of Kiev and the Alliance. He also called on the United States and its allies to reject Moscow’s demands.
“We have the golden rule of Ukrainian diplomacy: no decisions on Ukraine without Ukraine. Therefore, if someone, even our closest friends, decides something related to Ukraine behind our back, we will not recognize this decision.”– said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
What’s with NATO?
