On December 4, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Lady of our Theotokos and Ever-Mother Mary in honor of the fact that on this day the parents of the future Mother of God, fulfilling the vow given to the Almighty, brought their three-year-old daughter to the Temple of the Lord and gave it to the service of God.

Folk holiday

On December 4, the people celebrated the feast of the Introduction. This day was associated not only with the great church holiday, but also with the introduction to the new season. They said that winter itself rides in a snow coat on a sleigh with white horses. That is why people also made test runs on sleds. The newlyweds opened the winter path and new sleigh rides. Also during this period, winter auctions or Vvedensky fairs began.
