To speak of the Middle East conflict is now understood. It is a war that is delegated – political, human, now also territorial. The world holds its breath.
Israel has been war on Hamas in Gaza for almost two years, it is one of the longest in the history of the country. And this story is closely linked to wars. With the Second World War, which was found by Germany anyway, but also with a war immediately after the state was founded when the country was attacked by its Arab neighbors.
It is forgotten, but this recent escalation began because the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas Israel attacked in an unexpectedly brutal way that men, women, children, infants and senior citizens literally slaughtered.
Israel has every right to defend itself – against this attack and against any threat that still has many of which is still available. Because since the state was founded, the country is fighting for its existence.

This fight goes to its limits. What started legitimate is now morally questionable. The gaza strip is bombed. There are tens of thousands of deaths. Including many children. Two million Palestinians flee on the thin area of emergency accommodation to emergency accommodation. With a perspective? Not yet.
The humanitarian situation is dramatic. Because Israel is doing so hard, extremely hard. Just also because of the horny terrorist strategy of Hamas. Again and again she takes her own population as a protective shield.

Israel has to fight, but inevitably destroys reputation
And, has Premier Benjamin Netanyahu achieved his goals? Hamas has not yet been destroyed. The hostages? Many are dead, some still in the hands of the terrorists. And around Israel, enemies lurk against whom Israel also has to fight for survival: the Hisbollah, the Huthis, Iran.
It is a tragedy. Israel takes action against his enemies – and inevitably destroys reputation, solidarity, affection. Approval crumbles in western democracies. As in your own country!
The war becomes a challenge for democracy in Israel. Because that’s it and should stay. Netanyahu threatens to damage it. The majority of the Israelis wishes for three things: the liberation of the hostages, the processing of security failure on October 7, 2023 – and new elections.
Many Israelis are even more dangerous worldwide than anyway
The conflict is delegated – which can also be read about the fact that Israelis worldwide is now even more at risk than it already has. The anti -Semitic attacks will probably increase and reach a new dimension. This testifies to the death shots on two embassy employees in Washington.
What madness. Apparently, supposed “propalestinic” activists are legitimate to protest with murder against the conditions in Gaza. This was justified as this outrageous act.
The whole development becomes dramatic. For Jews, for Israelis worldwide, but of course also for Palestinians. Israeli society is divided, the Palestinians are without hope. And both lack a political lead with the will to peace.
Germany does not first have to demand sanctions, but find clear words
But not least in Jerusalem, this would be necessary in order not to destroy more: the international connections. Some states want to check the association agreement between the EU and Israel, maybe not extend it. That would be a lot of damage – for everyone.
Germany is of course particularly responsible here. It does not have to be the first to threaten with sanctions, but the first, as a friend and partner, find clear words and seek ways out of the tragedy.
The new federal government has a great opportunity to prove itself to the best. It would be wrong. It can increase its political influence right now can cause negotiations through incessant diplomacy, promote alliances, new and existing ones that become important for Israel and the whole region.
After all, the neighbors in the region also have a responsibility to get the tricky Hamas ideology from the heads of the Palestinians.
And against the background, it is all the better to penetrate the horrific humanitarian situation. All of this is ratio.
