The left on the high: a crash is always possible

Who would have thought that a few months ago: the left in front of the Greens in voting, for the first time in seven years. In between, the little thing heralded. But be careful of too loud cheers about a resurrection. High flight comes before the case.

Not only because Bodo Ramelow says it, her former, only Prime Minister and today’s Bundestag Vice President. But because it is very simple: the course of the left is less pragmatic than problematic.

This applies to the topic of anti -Semitism. The handling of this even vomits former party-sizes, Klaus Lederer, for example, Berlin’s cultural (ex) cultural senator.

She is in a deliberate ambiguity. A consortation for Jewish institutions. The left alone offers the competitors attack areas.

The Kümmerer image-from more affordable living space to more help for refugees-threatens to be overlaid. It was precisely the clear priority for everything social that the left has registered success in the latest Bundestag election. And so it should go on.

Especially since a very left course at the same time removed it from the government power. This applies, for example, to Berlin. What if a historical cooperation with the CDU would be necessary after the upcoming election? The left would have to give her reasons to remove the incompatibility decision.

Win the moderate in the middle

But does not do it. There is the chance for the Greens.

With Robert Habeck, they wanted to win the moderate in the middle that have become homeless since they have not found themselves at the Union and the SPD. Just because that did not pay off in the past election does not mean that the strategy would be missed. But you have to hold out. It is not all heat pump.

If the Greens press the left further to the left, and if the other with provocations of the wide center stands out again and again, this can change the constellation again. A hint of sectarianism would probably drive away from the still many structural conservative supporters of the left.

If there is a dispute on the left, the Greens benefit even more – in the event that it is sorted and disciplined in terms of content. But both can still land hard on the bottom of their ambitions.
