Child overwhelmed and killed, third accident on strips in 2 months

(ANSA) – CAGLIARI, 02 FEB – Cagliari is not a city for pedestrians. To say this are not only the statistics of the local police (58 pedestrians hit and injured in 2021), but above all the latest news stories. The last one yesterday with a 15-month-old child who was run over and killed in via Cadello, while he was in the stroller led by his mother.

But in the last two months alone, in fact, three people were hit while crossing the pedestrian crossing: in addition to the mother and child who were overwhelmed yesterday, on January 8 a 70-year-old man ended up in intensive care after being run over by a car while crossed the Via Roma.

And the memory of the last tragedy is still alive, on 12 December, when a car hit and killed a 68-year-old in via Bacaredda with the motorist who fled immediately after the accident while the pensioner died in an ambulance. In its latest annual report relating to 2021, the local police had explained that accidents with hit pedestrians is a phenomenon that has experienced a resurgence in recent months.

Among the most dangerous streets there is not via Cadello but Via Is Mirrionis, Via Roma, viale Poetto and viale Trieste. (HANDLE).
