(ANSA) – LECCE, 07 FEB – The carabinieri of the provincial command of Lecce are carrying out a precautionary custody order against 15 people (11 in prison and 4 under house arrest), accused of being part of a mafia-type association aimed at usury, extortion, private violence, illegal possession and carrying of weapons, drug dealing and, in some cases, even mafia political electoral exchange. A fringe of the Coluccia clan, operating in the Noha and Galatina area, was hit.
The investigation, which started in 2019, concerns the territories of Galatina, Aradeo, Neviano, Cutrofiano and Corigliano d’Otranto and is coordinated by the Dda of Lecce. The execution of the provision issued by the Gip of Lecce, saw the involvement of over 120 Carabinieri under the departments dependent on the Provincial Command of Lecce, with the help of the “Puglia” Hunters Airborne Squadron and the anti-drug and anti-explosive units of the Carabinieri Canine Nucleus of Modugno, supported from above by an aircraft of the 6th Carabinieri Helicopter Nucleus of Bari.
