Lafontaine calls Lauterbach “Covid-Heulboje”

The left-wing politician Oskar Lafontaine has sharply criticized the course of the federal government in the coronavirus pandemic – and personally attacked the SPD health politician Karl Lauterbach in a post on his Facebook page. This counts “at the forefront” to the “Covid howling buoys”, the Delta variant used to “warn again and create horror scenarios”.

Lafontaine accuses Lauterbach and other experts of “arm in arm with the pharmaceutical industry painting the devil on the wall to vaccinate as many people as possible with the vaccines with ‘conditional marketing approval’ and to prepare for the next lockdown”. The “experts” are gradually losing their credibility, writes Lafontaine.

Lafontaine goes on to say that “riding around on incidences without specifying the number of tests performed has always been a charlatanism from a scientific point of view”. The warnings of overcrowded intensive care units “turn out to be interest-driven lies on closer inspection”. This was not least determined by the Federal Audit Office. “And even the statistics of corona deaths and the conclusions drawn from them are falling into the twilight,” continues Lafontaine. Günter Eder, who has a doctorate in maths, has shown this.

The 77-year-old finds words of praise for paediatricians and the members of the Standing Vaccination Commission, because they “have so far steadfastly refused” to recommend vaccinations for children, “although the pharmaceutical lobby is putting a lot of pressure on its henchmen”. Lafontaine continues: “The lockdown has caused more harm and suffering to the children than an infection with Covid ever could.”

He ends his contribution with the following sentences: “The swear word Covidioten falls back more and more on those who seize every opportunity to raise self-important warnings and drive people crazy with scientifically unsupported claims.”

Karl Lauterbach responded to the attacks with just one sentence: The doctor and epidemiologist told the “Saarbrücker Zeitung”: “What a pity, such a polemic is actually beneath his dignity.”

Lafontaine’s contribution is hotly debated on social networks. Some believe that it was Lafontaine who has lost his credibility – and politicians even from their own party criticize the left.

But there is also encouragement for Lafontaine’s allegations, including from the AfD.

Lafontaine had recently sparked internal party disputes among the left because he was accused of having called not to vote for the party in the general election. The Saarland state chairman Thomas Lutze, against whom the Saarbrücken public prosecutor is investigating suspected fraud, was again elected as the top candidate in the federal election. Thereupon Lafontaine had declared: “Candidate Lutze cannot be supported.”

After a conversation with left leader Susanne Hennig-Wellsow, Lafontaine was forgiving. The disputes in the Saarland state association are “a special case that has nothing to do with the left as a whole,” said Lafontaine, who is parliamentary group leader there. That is why it is wrong to claim that he has called for the left not to vote. (Tsp)
