Start of traffic light coalition negotiations on October 19th?

Kühnert expects the traffic light coalition this year

SPD Vice Kevin Kühnert expects that the SPD, Greens and FDP will agree on a coalition agreement this year. “I am very confident of that,” said the former Juso boss on Monday in the ARD “Morgenmagazin”. “The talks have now started well, very trusting. Nothing leaks out. That is an important basis for it to go smoothly. ”Now it goes into in-depth explorations, then hopefully in coalition talks. He hopes that they will soon be on the home stretch.

Kühnert was confident that there was a sufficient basis for cooperation. “I do believe that there is enough to build up a common sense of politics over the first few months, and then there will be crises, like in every government, that is quite normal,” he said. “It is all the more important that the negotiations are now conducted so solidly and seriously.”

Kühnert also expects a willingness to compromise in budget and financial policy, one of the biggest sticking points in the traffic light talks. Serious clarification is needed here as to what the state’s income and expenditure situation and a fairer tax system should look like. “There is certainly still a lot to go”said Kühnert. “I suspect that everyone has to distance themselves to a certain extent from their points of view. That’s just how it is in negotiations in a democracy. “

Kühnert assured that the prospect that the FDP could have a say in many questions in the future does not cause him frustration: “We have ruled together with the CDU / CSU for eight years. In other words, the idea that we will soon have a government without Andy Scheuer or Julia Klöckner gives me a certain advance of joy, which Christian Lindner cannot spoil me now, ”he said in response to a corresponding question. “I just hope that’s the other way around.”

Kühnert is assigned to the left wing of the SPD. Before the general election, he had referred to FDP leader Lindner as “Luftikus”. He does not belong to the exploratory team of the SPD. (dpa)
