Cospito, Meloni appeals for responsibility: united against threats

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the affair of the anarchist Alfredo Cospito and the threats that have been received from politicians and officials by the “anarchists” launches from Berlin – during a joint press conference with the German Chancellor Scholz – an appeal to all political forces : on these topics “we must be united” and there must be “responsibility on the part of all”.

The university is invaded by posters against the state and the institutions. Under the writing ‘Who are the murderers of Alfredo Cospito’ stand out among others, the faces of Mattarella, Cartabia, Nordio, Meloni.

I find the posters posted at the La Sapienza University of Rome extremely serious and unacceptable which indicate in some representatives of the institutions the ‘killers of Alfredo Cospito’. The climate that is being created around the story of the anarchist is assuming disturbing contours and should not be underestimated. While waiting for the investigators to shed full light on those responsible, a unanimous, firm and decisive condemnation is necessary for these shameful actions and for this continuous escalation of violence”. Thus the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa.

“We express our solidarity with the President of the Republic, the Government and the Judiciary for the unacceptable posters that appeared at Sapienza. We hope that those responsible will soon be identified and we reiterate the need to forcefully counter this climate of hatred”. So on Twitter the president of the senators of the Pd Simona Malpezzi in the name of all the senators and dem senators.

The Minister of the University of Research Anna Maria Bernini – from what we learn from qualified sources – is in constant contact with the rector of the University La Sapienza Antonella Polimeni and with the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi and follows the evolution of the situation in the Roman university, where the Faculty of Letters has been occupied in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito against the 41bis.

“The time for testimonies and words is over. We think it’s time to get involved, each with their own possibilities, in a heterogeneous movement but with a clear message. This is why we invite students and teachers to participate in a moment of collective discussion, at 4 pm in Letters to imagine the next steps of the mobilization together”. This was stated by a delegation of the movement Changing Course, in occupation at the Sapienza University of Rome in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito and against the 41 bis, speaking with reporters in front of the Faculty of Letters. The students at this afternoon’s meeting would then have to decide whether to stay in occupation until tomorrow. “Today the political spaces in which we have built solidarity with Alfredo are constantly threatened by a climate of terror and fear that has spread in recent weeks; for this reason we have decided to take back the Faculty of Arts, aware that our training places are the spaces to which to start to build a debate together that is able to speak and take sides against 41 bis, impediment and life imprisonment”, explain the students, reiterating that the occupation represents “a clear message also to the Sapienza management, so far deaf to the repeated requests for stance”.
