The France Insoumise group has just announced its support for the transpartisan censorship motion instigated by the independent group LIOT, for Independent Freedoms Overseas and Territories. Jean-Luc Mélenchon encourages his deputies in the Assembly, in order to “give the greatest possible chances to censorship”.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon announced on Friday that the group La France insoumise (LFI) would support the motion of censure of the group of independents (Liot) in the National Assembly in order to “give the greatest possible chance to censorship” of the government of ‘Elisabeth Borne after using 49.3. The left-wing Nupes coalition, including LFI, was considering tabling a motion of censure, but its leaders have explained in recent days that a motion by Liot would have a better chance of being voted on by those right-wing deputies who are against the reform of the retreats.

“We have decided to give the greatest possible chances to censorship, and therefore to withdraw our motion of censure in favor of that of Liot”, explained Jean-Luc Mélenchon on France inter. Voting the motion of censure “means nothing other than the refusal of the pension reform”, “those who do not vote for the motion of censure are for the reform”, he warned. The Libertés, Indépendants Outre-mer et Territoires (Liot) group has 20 deputies from various political leanings but claiming strong territorial roots.

“Spontaneous mobilizations throughout the country” also encouraged

The former presidential candidate also “encouraged” “spontaneous mobilizations throughout the country” because “this is where it’s happening”, while calling for demonstrations also at the call of the inter-union during the weekend and next Thursday. With 49.3, “we have achieved our objective, this text has no legitimacy, we are right to revolt”, he added. “The fight is all that counts, which is important”, assured Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
