European elections: the presidential majority perplexed by Emmanuel Macron’s strategy

Less than three months before the Europeans, far behind the National Rally in voting intentions, Emmanuel Macron’s supporters fear a debacle during the June 9 election. Some of his followers even clearly criticize the strategy chosen by the President of the Republic.

Survey after survey, for months, the dynamic in favor of the National Rally has been confirmed. To try to stop it, the strategy chosen by the head of state is simple: dramatize the situation in Ukraine and relentlessly attack Marine Le Pen’s party on its links with Russia.

“Our left wing is making us pay for Emmanuel Macron’s right-handed turn”

An increasingly contested line: “It’s ineffective, many of us feel it on the ground,” confides a Macronie executive. “On the one hand, making the National Rally our sole target no longer mobilizes our voters as before. On the other hand, it helps them by placing them at the center of the game,” he explains.

Beyond this extreme polarization of the debate, “our left wing is making us pay for Emmanuel Macron’s right-wing turn”, analyzes a strategist from the presidential camp who hopes that the inclusion of abortion in the Constitution and the future law on the end of life will bring back disappointed voters.

At the same time, “the risk is that the progressive signals sent by the President will distance us even further from the right”, notes an advisor to the executive who assures that at this stage, the timid and unassuming right-wing will not won no votes.
