(ANSA) – CATANIA, 08 JAN – The Holy See has appointed Msgr.
Luigi Renna, currently bishop of Cerignola – Ascoli Satriano, metropolitan archbishop of the archdiocese of Catania. He is the successor of Msgr. Salvatore Gristina who since 2002, after having been pastor of the diocese of Acireale, has guided the diocese of Catania with the love of a father. The diocese of Acireale writes it in a note which, “united in prayer, wishes Archbishop Renna to carry out his pastoral ministry in the diocese entrusted to him and, within the ecclesiastical province of Catania, with a spirit of service and collaboration, of transmit the strength of hope, justice and charity “.
Archbishop Renna will turn 56 on 23 January. He is currently also apostolic visitor for seminaries in Italy, member of the Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Announcement and Catechesis and secretary of the Apulian Episcopal Conference. (HANDLE).
