(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 09 – Novak Djokovic remains on the draw at Indian Wells, for the first Masters 1000 of the season which will start in the night, but his presence at the American tournament is in great doubt. The organizers of the Californian event, now in its 45th edition and returning to its traditional location on the calendar in March after moving to October last year due to the pandemic, are in contact with his team. “But it is not yet certain that he can participate in the tournament by obtaining the approval of the CDC”, the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention), according to what was explained on twitter by the organizers they explained on Twitter. On the CDC website it is clearly explained that foreigners who are non-US migrants must prove that they have completed the COVID 19 vaccine in order to fly to the United States.

Djokovic therefore appears as seeded number 2 (he would face the winner between the Belgian David Goffin and the Australian Jordan Thompson as the first opponent) while Daniil Medvedev, seeded number 1, could meet Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals and Rafa Nadal in the semifinals.

Five blues in the race. Jannik Sinner, tenth seeded, and Matteo Berrettini, n.6 of the seeding, will enter the race directly in the second round as well as Sonego, 21st seeded. Fognini makes his debut with the Spaniard Andujar: for Musetti there is the American Marcos Giron. Fognini, Musetti, Sinner and Sonego were drawn in the upper part of the draw, the one presided over by Medvedev: only Berrettini ended up in the lower part, that of Djokovic. (HANDLE).
