(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 14 – No Italian team will participate in the 77th Vuelta di Spagna of cycling, scheduled from Friday 19 August to Sunday 11 September, starting from Utrecht (Holland) and arriving in Madrid. The 18 teams that are part of the UCI World Tour automatically participate in the race. They are: Ag2R Citroen Team (France), Astana Qazaqstan (Kazakhstan), Bahrain Victorius (Bahrain), Bora-Hansgrohe (Germany), Cofidis (France), Ef Education-Easypost (Usa), Groupama-FDJ (France), Ineos Granadiers (Gbr), Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux (Belgium), Israel Premier Tech (Israel), Jumbo Visma (Holland), Lotto Soudal (Belgium), Movistar (Spain), Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team (Belgium), Team BikeExchange-Jayco (Australia), Team Dsm (Holland), Trek (USA), UAE Emirates (United Arab Emirates).
Alpecin-Fenix (Belgium) and Arkéa-Samsic (France), leaders of the Uci ProTeams 2021 ranking will also be at the start. The UCI Board has authorized the participation of 184 runners in the Spanish race. Therefore, in addition to the 20 teams already admitted, the organization of the Vuelta has granted a ‘wild-card’ to the following teams: Euskaltel-Euskadi (Spain), Kern Pharma Team (Spain) and Burgos-Bh (Spain).
