Climbing: Coppa Italia; in Ferrara Tesio and Mabboni win

Judgment Cucchi, Ilaria:

(ANSA) – FERRARA, APRIL 04 – A splendid Giorgia Tesio wins the third round of the Italian Cup in bouldering, at the Deva Wall in Ferrara, ousting the very strong from the top step of the podium for the first time this year in this competition Camilla Moroni, however silver.

The Ligurian Army climber after having failed the first slab in the final, with three splendid flashes on the following three blocks, gives herself the victory on the first Sunday in April, 7 days before the first World Cup race in Switzerland. Moroni delle Fiamme Oro is second, not having hit the area in the third final block, but she still appeared in excellent shape, on the eve of the international appointment from Saturday in Meiringen. Excellent bronze for Irina Daziano of Inout Chiusa Di Pesio: the third impassable wall was also fatal for her.

The continuous series of attempts and takes on volumes are beautiful and intense. Between crossings, flag waving, rotations and translations, feet and hands to push to the top, even the men’s race gave strong emotions, especially at the time of the semifinals and finals. The fourth and decisive block of the final, purely physical, really difficult for the 6 finalists, proved to be decisive for the podium placements. A little tiredness and a less aggressive approach than in the semifinals did the rest.

The rookie Simone Mabboni of Crazy Center Prato won, in his first final, with three tops and three zones reached in the final, the same as Giovanni Placci of Carchidio Strocchi Faenza, but with two fewer attempts than the Emilian athlete. The climber from Faenza tried until the last second to reach at least the area, equivalent to gold, without succeeding, as did the Venetian, Davide Picco of Maneton Schio, who had to settle for bronze.
