(ANSA) – CAGLIARI, APRIL 05 – The sailor Andrea Mura returns to sea again. The navigator from Cagliari – twice winner of the Ostar and the first Italian to win the Route du Rhum – will participate on Saturday 9 April in the Roma x 1, a solo regatta on the 530-mile Riva di Traiano-Ventotene-Riva di Traiano route, aboard the historic and multi-winning Open 50 ‘Vento di Sardegna.
Mura presents itself as the holder of the distance record, set in the 2016 edition again with Vento di Sardegna.
Saturday’s regatta represents the first act of a long and demanding journey which in September 2023, once the necessary funds have been found, will lead the sailor from Cagliari back to the Ocean in the Global Solo Challenge, a non-stop solo world tour, without assistance and without stopover. The participation of Andrea Mura and Vento di Sardegna in Roma x 1 takes place with the support of Moys and the Fondazione di Sardegna, and as standard bearer of the Olbia Nautical Club. (HANDLE).
