Füchse Berlin “like a piece”

Even Hans Lindberg had to laugh a little. Otherwise ice cold and sovereign from the seven meter line, an unusual faux pas had happened to the top scorer at the game of the foxes at GWD Minden (31:25) on Thursday evening shortly before. When he wanted to start with his often used lifter, starting the penalty throw, he thought too long for a moment, then couldn’t get the ball out of his hand and fell in an uncomfortably funny way.

“Fortunately, even such a throw counts as just one rejected,” he joked self-deprecatingly after the final whistle. “Maybe it was because of the twelve-hour bus ride that I was a little tired and because in the end I couldn’t concentrate.”

On Tuesday they were still in action in the European League against KS Azoty-Pulawy (32:24), before the game in Minden, the Berlin team not only had to deal with a long journey in their bones, but also with an equally short recovery time. However, that did not diminish the performance at the East Westphalia.

Due to a lot of speed play and good one-on-one behavior, the Füchse account showed 19 hits at half-time. With only ten goals conceded in the first 30 minutes, there was hardly any defensive misconduct to be warned about and the cooperation between the defense and the goalkeeper worked extremely well. “That was a great performance from my team, as if from one piece”, Füchse coach Jaron Siewert was satisfied after the game, although he was offered a little less speed in the second half.

Lindberg, for his part, scored a total of three times – always from the seven-meter line – and was thus able to celebrate a personal anniversary in the end. In the Foxes’ jersey for over five years, the 40-year-old marked his 900th Bundesliga goal for the Berlin team against Minden and thus worked his way up the table of all-time goalscorers.

Meanwhile, he is already at the top of the Bundesliga rankings with the Foxes. After four wins in a row, Lindberg and his team are currently in first place thanks to a better goal difference ahead of SC Magdeburg with the same number of points. The Dane still doesn’t want to think about a possible championship: “We’re not interested in that yet. We are happy about the victory and take motivation and self-confidence with us for the next, tough tasks. ”The next two weeks will be difficult tasks with the second leg in the European Cup, the DHB Cup opener and the prestige duel against THW Kiel before. Lindberg would then like to forego unnecessary mistakes.
