Rafael Nadal is still suffering from a broken rib and was unable to resume training with the racket. This was announced by his entourage of him, confirming that the number 4 in the world he will obviously be absent from next week’s Barcelona tournament: “Rafa is still in pain, he hasn’t got his racket back, and he needs four or six weeks to recover. We are three, so he is logically unable to play in Barcelona,” said a friend of the Spaniard.

Nadal has therefore already missed the Masters 1000 in Miami, on hardcourt, and Monte Carlo, which opens the European season on clay. The date of his return is not yet determined, but should soon resume training on the pitch. The next Masters 1000 is scheduled in Madrid (1-8 May), before Rome (8-15 May), where the Majorcan champion is announced on the draw, and Roland-Garros, which begins on 22 May.
