The season for the BR Volleys will start soon. In the meantime, the entire squad has arrived in Berlin and has started the test matches. This week the volleyball players went to Poland, where they were able to prevail in their most difficult preparation game to date. Now the group opponents in the Champions League have also been determined. Managing Director Kaweh Niroomand is pleased that the team “finally had no Lospech”.

Volleys remain undefeated

The mood at the volleys could hardly be better. After winning all of the test matches in Germany, they also remained unbeaten in Poland. There they defeated the English club IBB Polonia VC twice (3: 1; 3: 0). They then also prevailed in a hard-fought match in the tie-break against the top Polish club PGE Skra Belchatow. Outside attacker Ruben Schott, who has returned to the volleys, did particularly well.

The mood was clouded a little by the fact that Central blocker Anton Brehme and outside attacker Timothee Carle had to stay at home. The two will be spared due to “minor injuries” – probably also for the Supercup in Schwerin on October 2nd.

Finally no Lospech

The volleys are faced with solvable tasks in the group stage of the Volleyball Champions League. In Pool D, the German champion will meet Russia’s vice-champion Zenit St. Petersburg as well as Vojvodina Novi Sad from Serbia and a qualifier to be determined. That was the result of the draw of the European Volleyball Federation (CEV) on Friday in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.

The group stage starts from November 30th to December 2nd. the BR Volleys start with a home game.

Santiago Danani only arrived in Berlin on Wednesday and joined the training team. On Friday the Libero was able to prove himself in the test match and was enthusiastic afterwards: “I feel good. 3-1 win against Lüneburg
