Viktoria Berlin is happy about a point

For about a quarter of an hour it looked as if Viktoria Berlin would jump back to first place in the third division at least until Monday evening, then substitute Sascha Mölders met the deserved compensation for 1860 Munich. A shot by Stefan Lex initially spun to the post, center forward Mölders dusted off in the 77th minute to make it 1-1.

Before that, the newcomer took the lead after 60 minutes. The 1.96 meter tall Tobias Gunte headed a corner kick from Björn Jopek into the opposing goal. For the central defender it was the first goal in the third division. Only a few minutes earlier, Tobias Gunte had saved the rear. The defender was in Munich for the first time since his injury from the start, in dire need he cleared Stefan Lex with a tackle. That was not the first and by far not the last good opportunity for the hosts.

Already in the first half there was little to be seen of the otherwise offensive Berliners. Until the opening goal, only a header from striker Lucas Falcao caused some danger. Instead, the team of coach Benedetto Muzzicato was challenged, especially in defense. The hosts made the game and Viktoria’s goalkeeper Philip Sprint had his hands full.

Even after Mölder’s equalization, Munich continued to push for the home win, but without success. Nevertheless, things got tense again at the last minute when Sascha Mölders demanded a penalty after a duel in Viktoria’s penalty area, but was not answered.

For Viktoria it was the third game in a row without a win. Still, the coach was happy with the point. “Unfortunately, we don’t have the time, but when it comes to commitment and dedication, I’m proud of my team,” said Muzzicato, referring to the difficult conditions of the nine and a half hour bus journey to Munich.

Around 9,500 spectators, including a few Viktoria supporters, watched the game live in the stadium on Grünwalder Strasse. “Unfortunately, we don’t have such a backdrop in Berlin, but of course you are really happy to play here,” said Viktorias goal scorer Tobias Gunte.

Unlike many league competitors, Viktoria does not have a game next Sunday because of the international break, but meets the district league club Berliner SV 92 in the Berlin Cup. Then nobody should be satisfied with a draw after 90 minutes, but at least the journey to the away game will be shorter. (Tsp)
