(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 27 – The Spanish phenomenon Carlos Alcaraz beat the American talent Sebastian Korda (30) 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. Alcaraz, who is world number 6 at just 19, reached the round of 16 for the first time in his career on clay in Paris. A year ago he stopped in the third round (beaten by Struff). Now he will face Russian Karen Khachanov (25), chasing a place in the quarterfinals.
Just two days ago, Alcaraz risked being eliminated by compatriot Albert Ramos. The young Murcian managed to win after a 4h34 ‘marathon, winning 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
The best result so far in a Grand Slam is a quarter-final achieved in September 2021 in the US Open. (HANDLE).
