Milan-Cortina: for Lombardy-Veneto an impact of 4.3 billion

(ANSA) – MILAN, 08 JUN – An economic impact of approximately 4.3 billion euros and 36,000 jobs for Lombardy and Veneto is estimated for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The added value was calculated at around two billion. “I am proud to have decided, that day, in a phone call with my colleague Luca Zaia to take a leap in the dark, taking the great risk of financing this project almost completely as Regions”, commented the Lombard governor, Attilio Fontana, speaking to Rome at the Round Table ‘Diplomacy and Sport – opportunities for growth and inclusion’, an event on the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

“The Olympic and Paralympic project is based on the principles of sustainability, flexibility and accessibility”, added Fontana, underlining that “Lombardy and the whole country will change for the better thanks to the Olympic event”. In short, “the Olympics are a great opportunity – she concluded – to share our culture and our passion for sport and show the world the high quality of our services”. (HANDLE).
