NBA Final: Boston stops Golden State’s comeback

(ANSA) – BOSTON, JUN 09 – The Tatum-Brown-Smart trio from Boston got the better of the fantastic comeback of Golden State, started by Stephen Curry in the third quarter, winning at home (116-100) and taking the 2-1 in the NBA Finals series. The Celtics wanted to respond to the physical challenge imposed by the Warriors in the previous game (107-88) and it showed.

They won the battle on this floor and did some damage when Curry injured his left leg, which Al Horford fell heavily on in the fight for a ball. At that moment, with four minutes remaining, Boston had the victory in hand (110-96). The double MVP (2015, 2016), very brilliant before this hard blow (31 points, 4 rebounds), remained on the field for another minute, despite the pain, before giving up and returning to the bench.

The trio Jayson Tatum (26 pts, 9 assists, 6 rebounds), Jaylen Brown (27 pts, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) and Marcus Smart (24 pts, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) were the ;; first to score at least 20 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds in an NBA final since the Lakers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Michael Cooper, authors of this performance in 1984 against the Celtics.

Reaping the rewards of an excellent start, the Celtics had reached an 18-point lead in the first period. But the third quarter was looming, the one during which the Warriors know how to do great damage. The jump was there, as the Californians won (33-25), also managing to regain the advantage in points (83-82) with Curry, author of his sixth and last three-point shot. But in the last quarter the gasoline of Golden State ran out and Boston scored a 23-11 that closed the match. (HANDLE).
