Vezzali, health and well-being in the cities “also thanks to sport”

(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 09 – “The goal of regenerating cities, intended not only as a container but as a set of subjects and living space of the community, is mainly pursued through the well-being of the population which must also be achieved through sports . For this reason sport, together with health and the environment, must become central themes of national, regional and city policies throughout the year “. It is a passage from the intervention of Undersecretary Valentina Vezzali at the presentation – at the Anci Presidency Hall – of the National Day for health and well-being in the city “Regenerate your city in health”, which will be celebrated on 2 July.

“My commitment as Undersecretary is to encourage sports practice by equipping cities and local communities with adequate structures, not only through the creation of new facilities, but also above all through the regeneration of existing ones – he added, among others. other, Vezzali – With the collaboration of the Department for Sport and Sport and Health, we are implementing a series of projects aimed precisely at supporting sporting practice and the places where it is carried out.

The project, which I defined as ‘Everyone’s Sport’, is aimed at this. In 2022, in total, over 1.2 billion euros will be made available for the development and innovation of the sports sector. “The undersecretary recalled that” ‘Sport di Tutti’ starts with a careful observation of the territory. 36% of the Italian population lives in large cities, even if they represent less than 2% of Italian municipalities. In realities with less than 50,000 inhabitants, 80% of all non-functioning sports facilities are present “.

For this reason “90% of the interventions proposed over the years by Public Bodies and financed through the Sport and Periphery Project are destined for these small municipalities”. (HANDLE).
