Swimming: World Series Fund; Paltrinieri wins in Paris

(ANSA) – PARIS, 09 JUL – Star player without pauses Gregorio Paltrinieri who, behind the triumphs and efforts of the Budapest World Championships, also imposes himself in the second stage of the World Series of cross-country swimming, taking place at the Parc de la Villette, in heart of Paris.

The 27-year-old champion from Carpi, at the World Championships gold in the 10 km, silver in the 5 km, bronze with the 4×1.5 and in the gold pool in the 1500 free style, leads a perfect race, always leading the group which then detaches about five hundred meters from the end. In the end Super Greg wins the 10 km race in 1h51’37”85, and behind him are the Hungarians Kristof Rasovszky, second in 1h51’38”98, and David Betlehem, third in 1h51’41”95 . Fifth was an excellent Andrea Manzi, winner of the Italian title a few days ago in Piombino.

In the women’s race, Geneva Taddeucci was in good third place. The 25-year-old from Florence closes in 2h00’35”99, after attempting the forcing one kilometer from the finish, but was stopped by the veterans Ana Marcela Cunha and Sharon Van Rouwendaal. The 30-year-old Brazilian – world gold in the 5 and 25 km – in 2h00’33”71 against the 28-year-old Dutchman’s 2h00’35”77.

In Paris we swam in the calm and not excessively cold waters (about 21 degrees) of the Ourcq Canal inside the Parc de la Villette: a two-kilometer journey repeated, in the case of Paltrinieri, five times. At the start 92 athletes (58 males and 34 females) representing 16 nations. (HANDLE).
