England-Germany, a great classic of international football, will be the final of the women’s European Championship scheduled at Wembley. The Germans earned a place in the match on Sunday 31st by winning the semi-final 2-1 against France, played in Milton Keynes.
The protagonist of the match was captain Alexandra Popp, who reached six goals, scored on the 40th minute of the first half and the 31st minute of the second half, in both cases on an assist from Svenja Huth, her teammate in Wolfsburg. The French had equalized momentarily, just before the interval, thanks to an own goal by goalkeeper Merle Frohms who had deflected the ball into his own goal, after the post hit by Kadidiatou Diani.
Germany will play the ninth final of the women’s European Championship and on eight occasions came out the winner.
