The best tennis player in Russia Daniil Medvedev, currently the sixth racket of the world, commented on the decision of the Ukrainian Lesya Tsurenko not to play the match with the Belarusian Arina Sobolenko at the WTA-1000 tournament in Indian Wells. The representative of the Russian Federation at competitions in the USA has already reached the 1/4 finals.

In a conversation with journalists, Medvedev stressed that he learned about the incident only the next day and started talking about world peace.

“First of all, I certainly feel sorry for all Ukrainian players because of what they are passing through. I don’t know the situation with Tsurenko in detail. This is a question for her and maybe a little for Sobolenko, because I only found out about it the next day, because he finished his match earlier,” Sportskeeda quotes Medvedev.

“If we talk about top players, of course, we have a responsibility. It all depends on how each person individually copes with this. I have always said that I am for world peace, and, frankly, that’s all I I can say: “I am for peace,” the Russian emphasized.

Recall that the famous Ukrainian tennis player Tsurenko refused to play with a fan of Lukashenka Sobolenko at a tournament in American Indian Wales. The 33-year-old from Kiev admitted that before the match with her rival, who supports the dictatorial regime in Belarus, she experienced a real panic attack and even hysteria.
