“General Director” of the football club “Sevastopol” Valery Chaly complained that Ukraine prevents the change of football citizenship of its players. On June 1, it became known that this Crimean team received the corresponding certificate from the Football National League (FNL) and will be included in the list of participants in the new season in the tournament.
“Unfortunately, we have eight people who have Ukrainian passports. We are talking about football passports, not civilian ones. Ukraine prevents the change of such football sports citizenship,” Chaly said in an interview with Match T.
Recall that UEFA does not recognize Crimea as a territory of Russia. VSK (Simferopol), SKChF (Sevastopol) and Zhemchuzhina (Yalta) played in the second league of Russian football in 2014. However, UEFA demanded that the RFU exclude them from its membership.
As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, the RFU accused UEFA of the fact that the European organization decided “too quickly” to exclude teams from Russia from its tournaments after the start of the war in Ukraine.
Recall that earlier Chaly accused UEFA and Ukraine of “destroying” football in the Crimea.
