Ukrainian epee fencers disappeared from the World Championship, where Russia was allowed

The national fencing team of Ukraine consisting of Kharkiv authorities, Joan Feibi Bezhura, Inna Brovko and Daria Varfolomeeva missed the individual tournament, which starts the World Championship in Milan, reports Public. On the day the tournament began, the names of the Ukrainian epee fencers disappeared from the application.

Initially, the Ukrainian fencing team planned to perform in full at the World Championships, declaring athletes for all individual and team tournaments. After the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus, the “yellow-blue” refused to participate in four of the six individual tournaments.

The day before the start of the world championship, the names of Ukrainian epee fencers were included in the application for participation in the individual tournament, and according to the results of the draw, they were divided into pools in which they were supposed to start performances.

However, the Ukrainian epee fencers did not start at the World Championships in the individual tournament.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, the International Fencing Federation, headed by the Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, was the first to allow representatives of the Russian Federation and Belarus to participate in international tournaments.
