Women’s World Cup: what time and on what channel to follow the first match of Les Bleues?

The French women’s team enters the running in this Women’s World Cup this Sunday against Jamaica. The kick-off will be given at noon, French time (8 p.m., Sydney time in Australia where part of the competition takes place). France Télévisions and M6 are the broadcasters of the competition in France.

Les Bleues are about to enter the deep end. Hervé Renard’s players will play their first match in this Women’s World Cup this Sunday against Jamaica, 43rd nation in the FIFA rankings. The match will take place at the Sydney Football Stadium in Australia, co-host of the tournament with New Zealand. The kick-off will take place at noon, French time.

And it is M6 which will broadcast this first match of Les Bleues while France 3 will offer the following two (including the one against Brazil on July 29). As a reminder, the allocation of broadcasting rights for this competition had been the subject of tough negotiations, the tricolor channels judging the sums claimed by Fifa to be too high.

Many players unavailable

For this competition, the Blue will have to do without many injured executives. Attackers Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Delphine Cascarino, injured in the knee, will not be there, as will ex-captain Amandine Henry who has to treat a capricious left calf. The latter had been recalled to the France group by Hervé Renard after having been excluded for several years by the former coach, Corinne Deacon.

The French women’s team has still not won the slightest international trophy and remains on two failures in the quarter-finals in the last two editions of the World Cup. But they managed to climb to the last four of Euro 2022 last summer. If the Blues have serious arguments to put forward, they are more like outsiders in this competition where the United States, Canada or even England and Germany are the big favorites.
