2024 Olympics: what will be the role of the 45,000 volunteers, presented this Saturday at Paris La Défense Arena?

Four months before the Olympic Games, this Saturday afternoon, the organizing committee presents, with great fanfare at Paris La Défense Arena, the team of volunteers for Paris 2024. 45,000 volunteers responsible for supporting the athletes, but also the spectators. Who are they and, above all, what exactly will they do during the Games?

D-125 before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On this occasion, the organizing committee will present this Saturday afternoon the 45,000 volunteers responsible for supporting athletes and spectators throughout the duration of the event.

The Paris 2024 team perfectly equal

Two thirds of them, around 30,000 volunteers, will be dedicated to welcoming the public. The other third will be used for sporting performance, for example by installing the starting blocks on the athletics track at the Stade de France. The few remaining people, around 5%, will work for the organization. But who are these volunteers?

There are as many men as women. The Paris 2024 team is perfectly equal. 30% are under 25 years old, while 10% are over 60 years old, some are even in their nineties! These volunteers are at the origin of the 101 French departments, even if the majority come from a territory which is hosting the Games. There will also be just over 2,000 internationals, from 150 countries.

A good number of them, exactly a third, come from the associative movement. A way to reward these volunteers who keep sports clubs going on a daily basis. Please note that all these volunteers will be screened by the Ministry of the Interior before obtaining their accreditation.
