The champion of the Olympic fence on the swords of Yana Sheyakin is upset due to the recognition of Russian and team competitions, because after the pain that causes pain and suffering, it is very difficult to stay in the same hall with his representatives. But such a step was not unexpected for Yana, because the International Field of Fences (FIE) was sold by the Russian Federation and was under the control of the Russian oligarch and friend Putin Usamanov for many years.
In the commentary OBOZ.UA, the named athlete told how difficult it is to fight Russians in such conditions, especially when other countries almost did not respond to the return of the Russian Federation in certain competitions and other age categories.
– In principle, we expected after we found out that they were allowed in the team at the World Cup among juniors. So, we all knew that this was the first step. They do this to see the reaction of a sports society. But no one answered, and, of course, they allowed a team of neutral athletes for the European Championship among adults and the World Cup.
In my opinion, they will soon be protected under their flag. Everything goes, because no one is opposed to them, everyone is silent, everyone protects. It looks like three years of war, and nothing new happened to them.
It seems to me that our federation should work in order to stop this process, but you see that these are all sales, everything is purchased, so it is very difficult to fight many federations that support Russia’s admission to competitions in the international arena. And they are most of them.
– You thought about how to behave when you have to meet with “neutral” on the highway, and how many team competitions in this context, where they participated for almost two years?
– I am very unpleasant to be in one hall. I look at them like a white spot in a fence costume, and I try to protect only the enemy. But in general, this is very difficult, because they brought us so much pain, brought such pain to my state. And it is very difficult to even be with them in the same hall.
But this is our work. And we go to the track and do our work. Yes, it is very difficult, but we are trying to neutralize them.
As for team competitions, now our youth team has fenced them at the World Cup. It was very difficult, I think, more morally. Because our boys are stronger than them, so it was more difficult to have more morally. Many people greeted us, supported us, but it is still very difficult to resist them at team competitions.
-Are there other ways to combat the fencing of the countries of the aggressor before competition after such a decision? And is there any meaning at all?
– It must be fighted. Do not give up – write, answer, but everything applies to the fact that they will be accepted for the World Cup and will soon be protected under their own flag. The whole charter is just documents. No one adheres to this – neither the International Olympic Committee, nor the International Field of the Fence. This is just a sheet of paper that costs nothing …
– Was there any negative reaction from representatives of other countries? Is there support for Ukraine?
-I just read the article by Estonian coach Helen Nilis-Naacas, who is trained in Nelly Diff. She wrote one of the foreigners that the Russians were allowed, and this is outraged by this fact. The only one expressed his indignation. In fact, the situation is very complicated, because the International Field of the Fence has completely passed under Russia, everything was sold, and I do not know … But our federation will fight, and we will fight on our way.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA said that on March 10, 2023, FIE was the first to participate in Russian representatives and RB in international tournaments. This caused an angry reaction in the world, and many countries refused to participate or conduct competitions under the auspices of the organization. In addition, at the Grand Prix stage in South Korea, Fae banned the symbols of Ukraine.
