Russian athletes will not be able to participate in the European kickboxing championship, which will be held from June 22 to June 29 in Chisinau. This decision was made by the Ministry of Education and Studies of Moldova on the eve of the beginning of the tournament. The reason is the refusal to allow representatives of Russia and Belarus.
Earlier, the World Kikboxing Federation (WKF) allowed the Russians to perform at international tournaments with a flag and anthem, and in April the Russian kickboxing Federation (FCC) said that about 100 of his athletes would go to Chisinaau in Chisinau.
However, the Moldovan authorities opposed and accused WKF and his President Frederick Ecenberger of violating international sanctions during the March Agreement with the FCC, which officially united the participation of Russians under national symbols.
FCCS said that WKF had already informed them of the inability to participate in the tournament, but the official letter has not yet been received. In March, an agreement on strategic partnership between WKF and FCC was concluded, which provides not only the participation of Russians in international undertakings, but also for holding tournaments in the Russian Federation, the work of Russian judges and the introduction of a representative of the FCR in the WKF leadership.
It should be noted that since the beginning of a full -fledged invasion of Russia in Ukraine in February 2022, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes allow us to participate in international competitions or allowed them to participate only in neutral status.
