One fan was killed, and several people were injured as a result of the fall from the top level of the stadium after the victory of the MC ALger football club at the Algerian championship for the second season, reports Sportstar. The tragedy occurred at the stadium “July 5, 1962” in the capital of the country – Algeria.
Mac Alder confirmed the death of one of his fans and expressed his compassion. President Algeria Abdelmadzhid Tebbun also sent the words of the condolences of the family of the deceased and wished the victims of a quick recovery.
“With deep sadness and pain in the heart, we received news about the death of our fan Uns Ambusi, which fell from the upper level,” the club said, published on Instagram.
According to local media, the tragedy came from the collapse of the fence in the upper sector of the stands.
The El Heddaf TV channel published a video showing how part of the railing collapsed at the lower level.
The victims were immediately sent to the hospital. Players, coaches and club representatives arrived to sacrifice blood to help the wounded. The champion trophy ceremony was postponed.
