(ANSA) – ROME, DEC 29 – LeBron James with 32 points and a triple double (with 11 rebounds and as many assists) was decisive, together with teammate Russell Westbrook (the same with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists) for returning the Los Angeles Lakers to victory after five straight losses by beating the Houston Rockets 132-123. The Akron champion was used as a starting center perhaps for the first time in his career due to the many absences in the team linked to Covid-19. A choice that paid off and was celebrated by a new milestone for James, who became the third player in the history of the NBA to exceed 36,000 points after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) and Karl Malone (36,928). Few points but great tension on the pitch in the match between the Golden State Warriors, leaders of the league, and the Denver Nuggets, who eventually won 89-86.
