(ANSA) – ROME, JANUARY 03 – Still physical problems for Chris Froome, and the return to the race is currently postponed: probably a few days, but a date to be defined. It was the British rider himself, four times winner of the Tour, who announced on his Youtube channel that he had to stop his preparation for the return due to inflammation of a hamstring. “I think I forced my preparation too much – explained Froome – and at the moment I am not sure when and where my season will begin”. Froome said he had been in severe pain in the last 10 days, “and maybe because of the enthusiasm I pushed a little too much: but I had been away from the bike for a while, and my body was not ready for those rhythms”. The 36-year-old British champion has struggled with injuries since a fall at Dauphine ‘in 2019 resulted in multiple fractures, including hip, elbow, hip and ribs.
